The online database is updated weekly and is free and accessible to all members of the public.

The steps to conducting the Wisconsin inmate search on the department website are as follows. 

Step 1: Visit the offender information provision on the department's website, then click on 'adult facilities' and 'General information, where you will access the Wisconsin offender locator to begin your search. 

Step 2: Type in the inmate's first and last name. You can narrow your search by including race, birth year, gender, age, address, and prison identification number.  

Step 3: The search results will include multiple entries of inmates with closely matching names.  

Step 4: Review the inmate record from the list and click on the name of your inmate, where you will view the inmate's sentences, biographical data, release dates, and mugshot.
