Utah Inmate Search

The Utah Department of Corrections (UDC) provides an inmate search feature through its online platform. The offender locator allows users to search for prisoners utilizing two convenient options. The first is 'Search By Name' or 'Search By Offender Number' using the UDC-specific number. 

Inmate Search Procedure 

Step 1. Log in to the Offender Locator. 

Step 2. Agree to the disclaimer provided by the department. 

Step 3. An inmate Search page will appear with a field for the inmate's first name, middle name, last name, and offender number. 

Step 4. Enter the first letter of the offender's first and full last name and click 'search.' 

Step 5. You can search by their DOC Number if you don't know the offender's name. 

Step 6. Get the results for inmates that match your search criteria. 

Step 7. Click on the name of the inmate you are looking for, and their details will appear. 

If you need further information on an offender, call the department at 801-545-5500 with their name or DOC number. 

Search Results 

Clicking on an entry in the list will reveal more details about the individual. The information provided may include the following: 

• A mugshot picture  
• ID, name and gender  
• Birth date 
• Height and weight  
• Location info  
• Parole/probation status and any aliases 

Another way to approach an inmate search in jails within Utah is by contacting county sheriff's offices and requesting information. However, to do so effectively, one must have access to contact details for every sheriff's office throughout each county. Fortunately, you can find all the records on the sheriff's office website. 

The UDC also has Sex Offender & Kidnap Offender Registry, a public resource that keeps the state safe. The Registry holds thousands of offender registrations annually, giving law enforcement and citizens access to critical information.
