Tennessee Inmate Search

The Tennessee Department of Corrections runs and oversees ten correctional facilities. The TDOC has over 6,000 employees and a significant training facility called the Tennessee Correction Academy in Tullahoma. The agency accommodates over 20,000 convicts and oversees about 79,000 inmates on probation, parole, and community corrections. 

Due to the considerable population growth, the TDOC has adopted strategies such as sentencing reforms, expanding the regional court drug programs and diversion programs, and contracting a few counties for bed spaces. 

Inmate Search Process 

Interested members can find details about their imprisoned individuals at the agency's correctional facilities. The Felony Offender Information on the state's website helps you conduct an inmate search efficiently. The records are related to felony inmates under the department's custody.  

The data is from different authorities, after which the originating jurisdiction confirms it before it is submitted to TDOC. The public can access information on inmates' location, status, active sentences, contemporary portraits, and more. Below is a simple guide on how to search: 

Step 1: Visit the Felony Offender Information Locator (FOIL) search website. 

Step 2: Pick one of the highlighted options to search: 

Name search option 

Enter the inmate's last name and tab the "Search" icon. The list of inmates with their previous names matching the name entered appears. You can narrow the search by typing their aliases, race, or first names. 

DOC ID Number option 

Under this option, you need to enter the inmate number 

State ID Number (SID) option 

You can search for your inmate using the SID number. 

Step 3: Hit on the inmate TDOC ID to view more details such as; 

The information generated by the search consists of the following: 

• Inmate's height and weight 
• Race 
• Inmate's name 
• Gender 
• Skin and hair color 
• Name of imprisonment facility 
• Mugshots
