Step 2: You can search using the inmate’s official first and last name or ID. You also have the option to narrow your search by adding in the offender’s status (Active, Probationer/parolee, or Inactive), gender, race, ethnic group, birth date, and age range. 

Step 3: The name search base search will return multiple closely related results. Review the list and identify your inmate. 

Step 4: To view further inmate details, click on the offender ID link, and you will view details like the inmate’s status, official prison photograph, conviction date, crimes, security level, and prison. 

The North Carolina offender locator only pulls records of inmates released over the last three years. 

NCDPS also offers an Automated System Query (ASQ) offender locator tool that allows you to create specialized inmate reports based on your criteria, secluding only the individual inmate information. 

The Interstate Compact Offender Tracking provides information on inmates on probation or parolees under the supervision of the NCDPS in another state.
