  • Division of Pretrial and Detention Services institution for offenders
  • Division of Correction Facilities for inmates

Families and friends looking for their loved ones in custody can email, call, or visit the principal central office in Baltimore City.

Inmate Search

The official website of Maryland State is the best way to search for an inmate. It is accessible, easy, fast, and reliable for all online users. The following steps will guide you to a successful Maryland State inmate search.

Step 1

Go to the Maryland State Offender Locator page on the department site.

Step 2

Search for the inmate by filling in the first and last name or entering one field only. These details help you get an instant and accurate result, unlike scrolling through a long list of similar names.

Step 3

Click on the ‘Search’ button to begin the hunt.

Step 4

The results display a list of all similar first or last names in alphabetical order and their date of birth. For example, the system will list all inmates with the first name ‘Mark’ but have a different last name. Click on the specific full name to view complete details.

Another inmate search method is visiting the individual jail or prison using the outstanding facility locator. Maryland has 18 adult correctional and detention facilities operating across the state. Each correctional institution listed on this site has a detailed link with a digital map to access the prison location.

Interested parties without online access can visit the central office at 6776 Reisterstown Road, Baltimore City, MD 21215. Alternatively, call 410-585-3300 to present your comment or question.
