There are about 41,000 inmates in Kansas, distributed across the state prisons and the county jails. So, how do you find an inmate across the nine state prisons or in the 105 county jails?
There are three main ways to locate an inmate;
The Kansas State inmate search database contains all the inmates incarcerated in holding facilities across the state.
You will need the inmate’s name or KDOC Number to do the search. However, if you have more details about the inmate, you can click the advanced search option. The details include the following;
Double-check the inmate’s information before clicking the submit button. You also have the option of viewing the inmate’s mugshots. It makes the search easier.
Apart from the inmate’s details (name, race, gender, etc.), the search also contains the following:
Alternatively, you can locate an inmate by visiting the state correctional department. They have their headquarters in Topeka, KS 66603, 714 SW Jackson, Suite 300. The department is in charge of the state prisons. Call the office at (785) 296-0144 with the inmate’s details for assistance.
If the person is in one of the county jails, visit the sheriff’s office or website to access the jail roster.
