Hawaii Inmate Search

The Hawaii Corrections Division is one of three divisions under the Hawaii Department of Public Safety. The purpose of the correction division is to uphold public safety by securing inmates and rehabilitating them. 

Unlike other states, Hawaii Corrections Division doesn’t provide an inmate search on its website. To do a Hawaii inmate search, you have to use the VINELink tool, which serves as a search tool for inmates and a victim notification tool.   

Here is how to use the Hawaii offender locator tool. 

1. Visit the National Victim Notification Network website. 
2. On the web page, fill in the following inmate information as needed. 
3. Specify that you’re searching for an offender 
4. Input “Hawaii” as the state that houses the inmate 
5. Fill in their first and last name. Alternatively, you can also fill in their ID number 

Provisions for partial name, and ID number exist where you aren’t sure of the inmate’s details. You can also choose to display the offender photos in your search results if they are available for the inmate you’re searching for.

Contacting Hawaii Corrections Division 

You can contact the Hawaii Corrections Division located at 919 Ala Moana Boulevard. You can get the division by telephone at (808) 837-8020 or fax at (808) 837-8026. 

Visiting State Prisons and Jails 

You can also make in-person visits to the four state prisons and the four jails in the state and request details regarding a particular inmate.  

Through Uniform Information Practices Act (UIPA) 

You can request inmate information from the Office of Information Practices. To do this, make a UIPA request by emailing the office at [email protected]. Alternatively, you can call the office at 808-586-1400 or fax at 808-586-1412.
