Undergarments/Care Packages

Within 72 hours of being booked into the jail family/friends are permitted to deliver to the jail, undergarments that are plain white, new and in unopened original package as follows:
MALES:  Three (3) t-shirts, Three(3) pairs of underwear and Three (3) pairs of socks. 
FEMALES:  Three (3) t-shirts, Three (3) pairs of underwear, Three (3) bras with NO underwire; and Three (3) pairs of socks.
ADDITIONALLY: each inmate is permitted to possess One (1) long underwear shirt and One (1) pair long underwear pants.  After the 72 hour time period, any undergarments must be purchased through the commissary system.  Please note there are limits on the number of undergarments an inmate may possess.

Family/friends may order care packages for an inmate online at www.expressaccount.com or by
telephone at 1-866-422-6833.  Care packages are limited to clothing and toiletries only.  There is
a $25 limit on online and telephone care package orders.  Online orders must be submitted by
4:00 a.m. Monday for delivery the same week.  Orders placed by telephone must be submitted by
Thursday at 3:00 p.m. for delivery the following week.

Phone calls
Telephones are available in the housing units for the inmates to use between 7:00 am – 11:30 pm.  If an inmate is locked down during these times their phone time is revoked.  Inmates can purchase phone minutes through the commissary process.  Friends and family may also purchase phone time by visiting ICSolutions.com or by calling 888-506-8407.

All telephone calls placed from inside the Montcalm County Jail are recorded and monitored.  There is a per-minute charge for each connected call.  The call will start with a recording that states the call is coming from the Montcalm County Jail and the person placing the call will give his/her name.  At that time the call can be accepted or denied by following the prompts.  The number called can also be blocked from ever being called again by following prompt.

Incoming calls for inmates will not be allowed, except for death notifications and medical emergencies. These types of situations will be confirmed by a corrections officer before a message is given.

Housing Fee
Montcalm County Jail charges a daily housing fee for sentenced inmates pursuant to Michigan P.A. 118 and as set by the Sheriff.  The housing fee for sentenced inmates and any medical costs incurred by an inmate, whether sentenced or not sentenced, indigent fees, and costs for damaged property caused by the inmate, shall be paid to the Montcalm County Jail.  An invoice will be provided to the inmate upon release and in the event the debt is not paid in full within 120 days from the date of release from the Montcalm County Jail, said debt will be submitted to the Mid Michigan Collection Bureau for collection.
