Inmate Search in Georgia
If you want to do a Georgia inmate search, the Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) provides a search tool on its website. The Georgia State offender locator tool is a comprehensive tool for locating inmates in state prisons.
The steps to follow to search are as follows.
- Visit the GDC official website.
- Select “Offender Search” in the department's menu of services.”
- On the Find an Offender page, read the website's disclaimer and terms of usage. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select “I agree – Go to the Offender Query.”
- On the next page, you will get two types of searches. “Search by Name or Description” and “Search by ID or Case Number.”
- To search by name, fill in the requested inmate details. They include:
- First and last names. You can also fill in partial names if you don’t know the full names of the inmate.
- Gender
- Race
- An estimate of the inmate's age. For example, between “X” and “X” age
- The most recent correctional institution that houses the inmate
5. Click “Submit Form” to do the inmate search
You can do a more comprehensive search by clicking on “More Options” in the “Search by Name” section.
- To search by number, start by selecting the identifier (GDC or Case number), then input the number. You can then “Submit Form” to begin the search.
- After clicking the submit form button, you’ll get a list of offenders that match your search criteria. You can click on “View Offender Info” to get the search results for a specific inmate.
Other ways you can do an inmate search in Georgia include;
- You can use the VINELink tool to know the whereabouts of an inmate in Georgia. You will need the inmate’s first and last name or their case number.
- Contact the Georgia Department of Corrections at 404-656-4661 and request for inmate roster. Alternatively, you can visit the agency's headquarters at 300 Patrol Road, Forsyth, Georgia, and request information regarding an inmate.
