Delaware Inmate Search

Delaware
Updated on: December 18, 2022

Most states provide an inmate search tool through their department of corrections. However, Delaware doesn't have an inmate search tool. Instead, it offers interested parties an alternative to use the VINELink service.

Apart from locating an inmate, the VINElink service helps victims of a crime get timely notifications regarding the offender's status in their case. They can get important notifications about the offender, like their release dates.

Here is a step-by-step procedure for doing a Delaware State inmate search.

  1. Visit the National Victim Notification Network website (VINELink).
  2. On the web page, input the following details.
  3. Specify that you're searching for an offender
  4. Input "Delaware" as the state in which the inmate is in
  5. Input their first and last name. Alternatively, you can input their ID or case number

While using the VINELink Delaware offender locator tool, it is important to take note of the following;

  • You can specify whether you want the offender photos to display with your search results.
  • If you don't know the offender's full name or ID and case number, you can choose to do a partial search. It is done by inputting at least two characters for the names and at least four characters for the ID and Case numbers.

Another way you can do an inmate search in Delaware is by utilizing the Central Offender Records office of the Delaware Department of Corrections. To contact the Central Offender Records office, call (302) 857-5490.

The advantages of using this office include the following;

  • You get information on incarcerated offenders and those who have completed their sentences.
  • Delaware Department of Corrections operates under a unified corrections system encompassing state prisons and jails under one body. It means that inmate information from this office is usually for inmates in level four and level five correctional facilities. You can search for inmates located even in county jails.

You can also make a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Delaware DOC to request prisoner information. To do this, mail the department at 245 McKee Road, Dover, DE, 19904, and address the letter to Tim Martin, the Legal Services Administrator.
