Community A - L: Automobiles

After the turn of the century the automobile began to supplant the horse and buggy as the common mode of transportation. Many companies started producing cars, among them the R.J. Tower Works in Greenville, which manufactured trucks for a period of time. Henry Ford and his Model T made it possible for the average working person to buy a car.
