The Eagle Hotel was located in the small village of Butternut, in Bloomer Township, four miles west of Carson City. At one time Butternut boasted of a post office, cheese factory, dry goods store and several other businesses.

Greenville

The Winter Inn, in Greenville, was built between 1900 and 1902. The first hotel on this site was built in 1850. It and several others built on the same site were destroyed by fire. The Inn had thirty-five rooms and provided stagecoach service to the railroad station for its guests. It was later renovated and restored.

Hotel Phelps, in Greenville, was built by T. I. Phelps in 1887. It had sixty-five rooms and offered transportation for its guests to the local lakes.

Stanton

The Montcalm Hotel was among a number that flourished in Stanton. Others were the Exchange Hotel, the Stanton House and the Bailey House. The name Montcalm Hotel was a popular one as there was one in Howard City as well as several other communities.

Trufant

This building on Second St. in Trufant, was formerly a hotel built by a Mr. Stimpson. It later housed many businesses before it became the meeting hall of Odd Fellows and Rebecca organizations.

Langston

Before the advent of the railroad, the Inn at Langston served travellers on the busy road from Greenville to Big Rapids.
